Beyond Boundaries | Townhall Meeting

Beyond Boundaries is IN-SPAN Centre of Excellence’s flagship Townhall Meeting, co-organized with the Asian Institute of Diplomacy and International Affairs (AIDIA), bringing together entrepreneurs, innovators, researchers, policymakers, industry leaders, and ecosystem enablers for meaningful conversations on innovation, technology, leadership, and Nepal’s evolving development landscape.
The upcoming edition features Dr. Venkatesh Balasubramanian, Founder of RBG Labs, IIT Madras, Head of the Centre of Excellence for Road Safety (CoERS), IIT Madras, and Professor at the Department of Engineering Design, IIT Madras, who will deliver a keynote titled:
“Disruptive Innovations in Product and Process Developments: Shaping Data-Driven Governance”
Drawing from his extensive work in engineering, innovation, product development, road safety, and applied research, Dr. Balasubramanian will explore how disruptive approaches to product and process development can transform the way institutions identify challenges, design solutions, and make decisions.
The session will examine the growing role of data, technology, engineering, and innovation in governance, and how evidence-driven approaches can help create more responsive, efficient, and impactful public systems. From developing solutions around real-world problems to translating research and technology into practical applications, the conversation will explore how innovation can move beyond the laboratory and contribute to meaningful societal outcomes.
As governments and institutions increasingly navigate complex challenges that require better data, smarter systems, and faster innovation, the ability to connect research, technology, entrepreneurship, and governance is becoming increasingly important. The session will offer perspectives on how data-driven thinking and disruptive innovation can help shape more effective approaches to development and public problem-solving.
The conversation will be particularly relevant for entrepreneurs, technology and innovation professionals, researchers, engineers, policymakers, students, public-sector leaders, and ecosystem enablers interested in the intersection of technology, innovation, and governance.
Through Beyond Boundaries, participants will have an opportunity to learn from an accomplished academic and innovation leader, exchange perspectives across sectors, and explore how disruptive ideas, applied research, and data-driven decision-making can contribute to building smarter systems and a more innovative future.
